Opportunity for Businesses to have their say on Business Improvement District (BID) for Strabane

Posted by Admin on 17 Jan 2015

Strabane businesses are urged to attend a series of Business Meetings taking place on Wednesday 28th and Thursday 29th January 2015 at the Enterprise Hub at John Wesley Street.   The purpose of these meetings are to provide business and property owners with the opportunity to find out more about the Business Improvement District (BID) and to make suggestions as to how a BID could move forward in Strabane.

Although this is the first time a BID concept has come to Northern Ireland, this is a world-wide process which has helped regenerate many cities and towns across Scotland, England, Wales and the Republic of Ireland.

The Business Meetings will enable discussion on the trading environment and will commence the process of identifying projects to take forward as part of the proposed BID Business Plan for Strabane. Councillor Dan Kelly, Chairman of Strabane District Council said “We must be sure that we capture the needs and priorities of the local business community accurately so I would urge the business community to attend one of these sessions.”

The priorities identified at these meetings will be incorporated into a business plan which will be distributed to all businesses in the BID Boundary area in early spring. A further series of consultation events will then take place before the business community go to vote in early July 2015 on the merits of the business plan and the BID levy that each business will be required to pay.

The meetings will take place at the Enterprise Hub, 18 John Wesley Street (Same entrance as Oasis Dental)
