Welcome to the Strabane Business Improvement District website.
We want to improve Strabane as a thriving and vibrant town for local people and visitors alike – a great place to enjoy and do business in.
Strabane has so much to offer, but the town can only be truly effective when all businesses come together to work for the benefit of the town. It is only through a positive and unified approach that Strabane can truly realise its full potential and we see a BID as a way of achieving this.
This website aims to answer your questions and keep you up to date with the developments in the Strabane BID and provide you with all the information you need to help you decide how to vote in the Strabane BID ballot.
What is a BID?
ABOUT STRABANE BID AND HOW A BID WORKS
The Strabane Business Improvement District (Strabane BID) is a project set up by and for the business in Strabane Town to improve trading and footfall in the Town now and in the future. It is for all businesses within a defined central area to participate in and benefit from, and enables independent action for tangible improvement projects selected by those traders. BIDs are governed by primary legislation The Business Improvement Districts Act (Northern Ireland) 2013 and are only set up after consultation with the businesses affected and the publication of a detailed Business Plan.
Strabane gives thumbs up to BID
Strabane has given a firm Yes to have a Business Improvement District following a YES vote by local businesses today with 95% voting in favour of the scheme. Welcoming the news at a formal event to announce the result of the ballot, the Deputy Mayor Alderman Thomas Kerrigan said the positive response from traders in the town to the Business Improvement District (BID) ballot was “hugely significant” and “a positive move that will see great benefits for Strabane.”
